The Refugees, Displaced Persons and Forced Migration Studies Center and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) held a meeting using visual communication technology. During the meeting, ways to strengthen cooperation between the both sides were discussed.
During the meeting, Dr. Reem Al Kharouf, Director of the Center, presented the center's vision, strategic plan, research and training priorities that intended to be held. She also presented the quality of activities and capacity-building to be focused on in the next phase to fit the new challenges such as Covid-19 and digital transformation.
Al-Kharouf appreciated the efforts of the German agency team in partnership with the Center over four years in implementing the training program on psychosocial support for refugees. It provided training services to a number of community members of both Jordanian and Syrian nationality.
Al-Kharouf stressed the need of conducting a study to evaluate the results of the project and measure the extent to which participants benefit from. This is in order to develop the services provided to participants and achieving the desired goals.
Feuchte Friederika, Director of the Psychosocial Support Services Program at the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), commended the outstanding scientific level of Yarmouk University, the accuracy and the speed of completion of the project which was implemented through the University's Refugee Studies Center to provide psychosocial support services to refugees. Through this project, a group of young Jordanians and Syrian refugees were trained to deal with refugees and those affected by current crises and to provide them with psychosocial support services.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Kraus Christina of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and a number of members of the center’s staff.
